Kerry Blue Terriers - Description
Kerry Blue Terriers are medium-sized dogs that are all-round working Terriers. Well built, the Kerry Blue Terrier is skilled at herding cattle and sheep. The Kerry Blue Terrier's head is long and well-balanced. Their eyes are dark and have that distinctive Terrier look. Their nose is black and has wide and large nostrils. The ears of a Kerry Blue Terrier are small and v-shaped. Kerry Blue Terriers carry their ears forward, close to their cheeks. The ears have a natural fold. The Kerry Blue Terrier's coat is wavy and soft and comes in many different shades of blue. Most puppies are born black and lighten up with age. The correct mature color as stated by the AKC is "any shade of blue gray or gray blue from the deep slate to light blue gray, of a fairly uniform color throughout except that distinctly darker to black parts may appear on the muzzle, head, ears, tail and feet."

Kerry Blue Terriers - Temperament
The Kerry Blue Terrier is a friendly, enthusiastic and determined dog. This breed is energetic and enjoys playing. They are guaranteed to make you laugh and have a good time. The Kerry Blue Terrier is a protective dog and needs to be socialized to ensure better behavior with other dogs and people, as well. They can be aggressive with other dogs when not socialized properly, but typically get along with other pets. Their nature requires a confident owner and quality obedience training. These dogs are very smart and can be headstrong. It is important to challenge the Kerry Blue Terrier when training them or they will become bored, thus showing their stubborn traits. The Kerry Blue Terrier is a family dog and does well with children when properly socialized with them.

Kerry Blue Terriers - Grooming
Kerry Blue Terriers do have grooming requirements of which all potential and current owners should be aware. Brushing should be done a minimum of once a week, but preferable daily. Daily brushing will maintain a health, clean, and mat free coat. Kerry Blue Terriers will need to be professionally groomed approximately five times per year. It is important to choose a groomer who is familiar with trimming Kerry Blue Terriers, or your Kerry Blue Terrier might turn out looking more like a Schnauzer. You should bath your Kerry Blue Terrier every 6-8 weeks. Frequent bathing does not dry out the skin of Kerry Blue Terriers as it can with so many other breeds.
