Needless to say, play and vigorous activities will do good to any Kerry Blue Terrier. These dogs are playful and inquisitive. They have strong hunting instincts and tend to be independent.

Puppies should be trained from an early age. The Kerry Blue Terrier is not always friendly with other pets. Hence, the dogs need proper socialization to avoid behavioral disorders. Obedience training is highly recommended for Kerry Blue Terriers. During a course, they acquire skills critical for their future life. It should be noted that though Kerry Blue Terriers are intelligent dogs, they can be slightly difficult to train. This is due to their independent personality. The breed is often referred to as an independent thinker. Hence, owners should not thrust their will on these dogs in an offensive manner. Praise and treats work far better.
Obedience training implies a good deal of repetitions of the same command until it becomes an established skill. The Kerry Blue Terrier is definitely not the breed to repeat innumerous actions day after day. These dogs need new experience and play. Try to change the place of training from time to time.
